Weekend in LA

Customs hotel at LAX.

Customs hotel at LAX.

We were supposed to arrive in LA on the 22nd, but plans changed and then I found that I made a non-refundable booking at Customs hotel at LAX! So when I am locked into a 4 star hotel booking, I am not going to let it waste away! So we made a slight detour (and a nice rest stop) point for driving between Chandler AZ to Montery CA. So as it turned out, this fit our schedule perfectly after all.

I like this garden of arid horticulture.

I like this garden of arid horticulture.

Was it worth the US$175 for 2 nights + US$30 parking? Well…. it was chilly and we didn’t use the pool or the gym… the room was comfy enough, altho the décor was too hippy for my taste… No microwave in the room, but there is one for common use in the vending machines room. The location was great and landscaping was very well kept. Still, I wish I hadn’t made that booking mistake.. sigh…

This is interesting, the plant seem to be radiating from within...

I like the garden much better than the room, hence more pictures of the outside and none of the room itself.

And check out this interesting picture… No tricks, just took a picture and this is how it turned out. Looks like the plant is emitting light from within. Kinda unreal …

We liked it that our room was on the 9th floor and had a view of the ocean in the distant… and we could look down and see that nobody is hanging out by our very new Fordie… somehow, being in LA feels unsafe, altho we were probably in the higher end neighbourhood around here. Anyway, nothing bad did happen.

Sailboats everywhere.

Sailboats everywhere.

So here we are, in LAX and just 5 miles to Marina Del Ray… 🙂 I guess we do things that comes naturally to us… that is yachts gawking at the Marina!

Lots of touristy activities here.

Lots of touristy activities here.

Its Sunday and lots of people are out and about! Its a really busy marina with locals boating and tourist enjoying the waterfront curio shops and restaurants.

The marina is filled with waterfront housing too… I guess rich people like the view of yachts and boating scene.. everywhere in the world is the same. .. like Sentosa Cove … like Keppel Bay ..
