Back in SG, back to home improvement

Just as it was starting to get really cold in the PNW, like when cars gets a frosting overnight, we got on our flight back to SG. That was late Nov, and we plan to be back in PNW again in April when things start warming up 🙂

See how its connected to the false ceiling.

So its back to our ordinary lives.. even I say so myself, the period of April to Nov 2013 was not normal for us. … tho, I have been told that even whats normal for us is not normal for most people in SG. … like really, who in SG build their own shelves, kitchen counters, false ceilings? And that’s just what we are going to do in these 4 winter months hiding in the tropics.

Shelves on the opposite, also linked up to support the false ceiling. White boards are used to cover the unsightly pipes.

It was not my original plan, but using aluminum extrusion for framing was so quick and easy. … yes, it was also more expensive, but I think it was worth it. See, how neat and how quickly I got it setup… mostly by myself. Doug did the shelves, reusing the old Ikea pine boards.

The kitchen counter, soon to be fitted with shelves and paneling.

And the aluminum shelves framing is integrated into the false ceiling… lets see how that works … when its really completed. We have got some shelves in place now, next is to finish up with plywood and white foam boards. Hopefully we could finish before we our next adventure… but we are kinda taking it easy and working only when we feel like it… 🙂 maybe it will never be finished fully… time will tell.
