Settling into Ginowan Marina

Calliste at Ginowan Marina.

Calliste at Ginowan Marina.

We have been here for 1 week now. Going through paperwork and getting settled. We are committed to stay a month… maybe more… while we repair the damaged cutlass bearing and put on new antifoul at the yard here. This is a excellent marina with possibility to get quite a lot of work done by DIY or contractors, and at very reasonable prices… this is were you really know that SG is such a rip off!

Sailing from SG to Okinawa was 35 days in total… we expected it to be 25 days really, but we did stop at Tioman, Kudat, El Nido, pass by Lu Dao (Taiwan), Ishigaki (Okinawa- where we check into Japan), then Ginowan (Okinawa). We suffered from too much heat in the 1st 20 days out, and then too much rolling around in headwinds and waves in last 10 days before Ginowan.

I got really restless over 10 days between ports… and I think we should do more short jumps from now on…

We are looking at shipping options… I think being out there for 50 days is really not my thing…. Doug thinks he can go with a hired crew for much less, but I dun think that. Much rather pay for convenience and less risk.

Will do a complete write up of our trip and how to sort things out around Okinawa later… still in the settling in mode. .. and worrying about our prep for typhoon season coming up…
